– Opening doors to the whole world

The Greenland Innovation Centre is a natural development of the activities currently being run under the auspices of ARTEK.

ARTEK – an abbreviation for the Arctic Technology Centre – was founded in 2000 as a Greenlandic-Danish collaboration involving the College of Building and Construction in Sisimiut, Sanaartornermik Ilinniarfik and the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby.

Briefly put, the purpose of the working relationship is to provide education and supplementary training for Greenlandic and Danish students, as well as commercial players, in the field of technology with special emphasis on application in Arctic areas.

Innovative solutions demand both theoretical and practical knowledge.

In collaboration with ARTEK, the Greenland Innovation Centre will seek to promote a good working relationship between Greenlandic researchers, entrepreneurs and members of the business community on the one hand, and an international forum of experts from the fields of construction, energy and the environment on the other.

– All in recognition of the fact that the spark of innovation is often struck from the interaction between theoretical and practical knowledge that people with very different backgrounds can contribute.

Through ARTEK, the Greenland Innovation Centre will thus give firebrands from all parts of Greenland the opportunity to reap returns on the knowledge, research and development encapsulated in the training and education institutions. – Not only under the auspices of ARTEK, but also in other research environments at the Technical University of Denmark, where dialogue is considered crucial to the development of good ideas.

ARTEK is also the conduit for access to the global network of which the Technical University of Denmark is a part. – And a good network to have behind you if, for example, you want to look into the options for exporting an invention to other Arctic areas.

At practical level, students and researchers from ARTEK will also be those to examine and test the ideas proposed for further development at the Greenland Innovation Centre.
