Ownership

The Greenland Innovation Centre is a private limited company officially established on 30 December 2005. The shareholders are:

• The Greenland Tourism and Business Council (GTE)
• Boligselskabet INI A/S
• Sisimiut Employers’ Association
• Sisimiut Business Council
• The Municipality of Sisimiut

The Municipality of Sisimiut also owns the old shipyard where the Greenland Innovation Centre is located.

Operation

When the house is opened to the public, a part-time advisory consultant will be appointed, who, in collaboration with employees from the Sisimiut Business Council, will have responsibility for day-to-day operation.

The Board and support group

The following people have been elected to the Board of the company: Jørn Hansen, Rambøll A/S, Sisimiut (Chairman and representative of the Sisimiut Business Council) Jokum Møller (Representative of the College of Building and Construction) and Sara Heilmann (Representative of GTE).

In addition, a support group will be set up for the innovation centre, made up of representatives of each of the shareholders and of the following partners: The Directorate of Commerce, Nukissiorfiit, Royal Greenland, The College of Building and Construction in Sisimiut, and ARTEK.

Financing

The Greenland Innovation Centre receives financial support from the Home Rule organisation through the allocation of funds from a block subsidy for education, training and supplementary training in the field of commercial education.

What is known as a “result contract” has been entered into with Greenland Home Rule. This involves GIC undertaking to supply a range of services such as courses, teaching and knowledge sharing.

The practical work to support Greenlandic innovators, companies, public sector players, etc. is financed separately by ARTEK, Nukiit funds, entrepreneurial offers, companies, local authorities, funds and the like.
