Schoolchildren now have the chance to learn about sustainable energy

A wide range of schools in the Municipalities of Sisimiut and Uummannaq have stated that they are keen to participate in the work to spread knowledge about “green energy”. This will be done on the basis of two ongoing projects under the auspices of ARTEK which, for example, have to do with the utilisation of solar and wind energy (see Activities/Energy).

Schoolchildren from all grades will thus be introduced to both the technological and environmental aspects linked to the utilisation of sustainable sources of energy.

A demonstration solar energy unit will be installed at all schools involved in the project, and this unit will generate hot water that will be merged with the school water system.

All in all a wonderful initiative on the part of the schools – also with regard to stimulating interest in alternative forms of energy in the surrounding communities.
