Combating pollution in Greenland
ARTEK has examined a range of techniques for limiting or combating pollution in four central areas, of which all have been given high priority in Greenland.
This applies to pollution in the form of:
• fly ash from incineration plants
• sludge in harbour areas
• oil in the subsoil
• waste water from households
There is already sufficient fundamental knowledge about how specific techniques can be used in practice in the Arctic region to combat pollution on a large scale.
The techniques have been developed within what is known as the CORPAT-organisation (Consortium for Remediation of Polluted Areas and Topics).

The Greenland Innovation Centre invites private companies if appropriate, with ARTEK in the role of advisor to develop and test specific solution proposals for how the work to limit pollution in Greenland can be applied in practice.
The aim is for CORPAT to operate throughout the Arctic region initially with particular focus on the pollution areas mentioned above. Therefore, both Greenlandic and foreign companies are welcome to contribute to the practical solution of the tasks.
